Eugene Gregory Memorial Youth Academy is a Title I school. This classification is based on the number of students receiving free/reduced meals at school. We receive funding to support student learning and to promote family involvement. You will receive flyers or messages throughout the year announcing activities and/or events, as well as, other opportunities for involvement.

Title I, Part A
Title l, Part A (TIPA) is the
largest federally funded education program in the United States. The purpose of
TIPA is to close the achievement gap between economically disadvantaged
students and non-economically disadvantaged students.
Parents' Rights
Parents have a right to:
●Request information about the qualifications of their child’s classroom teachers and paraprofessionals
●Be notified if their child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not state certified or licensed
●Request regular meetings to offer suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their child
●Be provided with an individual student report about the performance of their child on the state assessments in reading, language arts, and mathematics
●Be involved in the development of the Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP)
●Be involved in decisions about parent and family engagement funds are spent
Title I, Part D
SCPS receives an annual allocation of dollars under Title I, Part D of ESSA to support educational programs in local institutions for neglected or delinquent youth or in correctional facilities. The intent of the program is to provide services to help students successfully transition back to their zoned school upon release from the facility, to further their education or to gain employment. The Title I, Part D program serves three centers: Eugene Gregory Academy, John Polk Alternative School, and the Seminole County Detention Center. Title I, Part D funding also serves at-risk students in one high school, one middle school, and students who attend the after-school program at the Velma Hayes-Williams Community Resource Center. These schools and center do not receive Title I, Part A services.
